WHAT IS THE DENTAL IMPLANT PROCESS?

When you visit NorthPark Family Dentistry, our dentists will refer you to an oral surgeon for the surgical part of implant treatment. This is where you will have metal posts implanted into your jawbone. After a healing process of 3 to 6 months, the oral surgeon will have you come back so that your dental fixtures can be attached to the implants.

Before the development of dental implants, dentures were the only alternative to replacing teeth in large gaps where teeth were missing. Dentures require care and maintenance and may slip or slide and require adjustments over time. Dental implants offer more freedom and permanence.

DENTAL IMPLANT RESTORATION

Problems with dental implants are rare, but they do happen. If you notice your dental implant has loosened, is causing your gum to swell, or the crown on top of your implant is cracked, call our office right away! A dental implant can't fix itself and if you try to treat it yourself, you could end up causing more damage to your mouth.
