WHAT ARE INLAYS?

WHAT ARE ONLAYS?

Onlays are similar to inlays in that they are designed to strengthen and protect teeth that are suffering from decay. The difference between them is that onlays are used to treat the cusps of teeth in addition to their surface. Onlays are crafted with the same material as inlays and in a similar manner. Onlays are beneficial in that, unlike with crowns, the structure of the tooth is preserved. However, instead of covering the entire tooth as a crown does, onlays only cover the damaged portion.
